What Is The Only Question That Can Be Answered By Another Question?
This is an exercise in establishing positive reinforcement/self-talk. Be careful to view this as an important time to be in a quiet and safe environment, with minimal distraction. Please, write freely and without too much discernment. Do yourself a favor and be easy on yourself, but also realistic with the answers you give (I’m attempting this myself).
- What do you like about yourself (could be any behavior, trait, or characteristic)?
- Now, be very honest with yourself, what are your positive and negative characteristics? Please be objective.
- What are some things and/or activities that make you feel peaceful (could be anything)?
- Which of these things could you see yourself doing on a daily basis?
Now, think of your body as a scale. One side holds negative thoughts, the other side holds positive thoughts. When something you care about is out of balance, what do you do? Try to rebalance it, right? So, little by little, day by day, make it your job to practice positive reinforcement in the form of doing healthy activities that are pleasurable to you. After all, this is part of what makes you you, an individual, worthy of loving and being loved. You can ask yourself, “What is the only question that can be answered by another question?” Why. Why are you helping yourself? Why are you feeling the way you’re feeling? These are all valid questions.
